What Position Do You Play On Game Day?

At some or even many times in our lives there is a “game day”.
A day that is just a little more important than our ‘usual day’.

We all have a time where we pull it all together for one particular moment, time…a “game day”.

As we watch the Olympic Games and find out who the best of the best is in each sport from athletes around the world, I think of the hard work, dedication and sacrifice that has been exerted just to be chosen! Years of preparation and sacrifice for a small window of opportunity.

Can you imagine the mindset these athletes must have? I believe they definitely focus more on what is in their control rather than being paralyzed by what’s not. Many athletes spend time meditating on their performance and picturing themselves on the podium receiving their medal. Why? Because we act what we believe – our choices make us.

So today I’m asking you to reflect with me about what our ‘game day’ looks like and what position will we play for our team?game day

Commentator – critiquing the events, giving the history, backstory mixing fact with opinion

Benchwarmer – prepared, ready and waiting for our turn to shine

Cheerleader – filled with enthusiasm and just the right words of encouragement & motivation to support our team

Player – practicing, improving our skills. learning from missed opportunities, our mistakes and others, always striving to give and do our best for the sake of our team win or lose

Coach – Sharing what we know from our experience to help our team find their confidence in the abilities they have been given, show ways to enhance their skills to be the most productive and teaching our players how to use their talents for the benefit of others.
Modeling Together Each Achieves More.

Each game day will look different for each of us, the motivation behind which position we take will be different and may even depend on what season we find ourselves.  I can pretty much guarantee you will often find yourself juggling more than one position at one time! (can I get an amen?!)

I encourage you today to think about your small windows of opportunity to create the perfect ending to your big game days and seek out the people you need to fill the positions on YOUR team!

You were created to WIN!
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Striving to WIN my game days right there with you,

Deana

Love this! I realize that a lot of times, I am the commentator or the cheerleader. I need to find a balance as a coach and player.
