How many times have you heard about how important it is for you to find your life’s balance?
Well, I for one have never found where it is exactly that balance hangs out, let alone LIVES!!
I know in my life, something or multiple things are unevenly distributed or unequally proportioned by NOON!
Don’t laugh, but when I even hear that word, balance, all I can think of is me running from one end of a see-saw picking up more things to do all while trying to achieve balance in the center!
Another picture I have in my “mind’s eye” is me walking a tightrope while keeping all of my spinning plates from crashing to the ground. (really, it’s ME I’m worried about crashing! Totally selfish, I know)
What about you? What do you think of or see when you hear that dreaded word, balance?
Is it just as silly and unrealistic as mine? Or are you doing something more meaningful like deep breathing and yoga poses on the beach?
Whatever it is we picture balance to be, we first need to decide if we are going to continue to pursue the picture in our minds or altogether change the way we see it.
It helped me when I stopped thinking of balance as see-saw racing or tightrope walking and thought of it more as a harmony.
By looking for harmony instead of balance, I was able to FIND and make room in my life for things that:
make me feel at peace instead of guilty
my peeps can agree and live with
brings a better understanding & appreciation for my choices
are worth my time & energy
I’ve found that by pursuing harmony in my life instead of balance, I’m adding a real quality of living to my life, instead of trying to achieve a “standard” that drains it.
