The Triple Threat To Your Progress

The triple threat I’m talking about is the triple D’s!
Disappointment, Discouragement and Defeat.
(what were you thinking I meant?!)
We’ve all been threatened by one of these at some point. Sometimes all at once, back to back or a one, two combo.
(And for a lot of us, that was just this morning!)
I’m not looking to bring you down or bring sympathy to your pain.
If this is our first “meeting” I want you to know that I’m all about practical solutions and encouragement for your faith, your life and your business.
Because at the end of the day – that’s where we “live” right?!
In our heads (faith = what we believe), our life (our existence and what we do with it) and our business (our workplace, marketplace, j.o.b.).
So what’s a peep to do about this size DDD triple threat?
Well the answer is another D.
(c’mon – those who know me, know I love alliteration!)
Discipline is the only way to not be swayed or overcome by the triple threat of disappointment, discouragement and defeat.
So the next time you are hit with triple D’s ask if you are…
Feeling disappointed because?
– you were unprepared (time, resources, tools)
– your expectations were unrealistic
– you did not take responsibility or ownership of your role
Feeling discouraged because?
– you were unprepared (time, resources, tools)
– your expectations were unrealistic
– you did not take responsibility or ownership of your role
Feeling defeated because?
– you were unprepared (time, resources, tools)
– your expectations were unrealistic
– you did not take responsibility or ownership of your role
I could have easily condensed these questions, but I think the redundancy will help drive home my point. And my point is this…
One, notice the word feeling in each question. Feelings are INDICATORS.
Feelings bring to our attention that a CHOICE needs to be made.
That choice is, what are you going to do about the way that you are feeling in that moment?
The second thing to take notice of in the commonality of the triple threat to your progress is, you.
You are responsible for your choices. Can you control the outcome? Not really, but you sure can steer it in a positive direction.
