Whatever!

Things can pile up in your mind as quickly as the bills and laundry – then you feel completely overwhelmed by it all.
The next thing you know, the thought, “Whatever!” has run through your mind faster than you can run from the bills or the pile of laundry! (just me?)
Perhaps that, “Whatever!” sentiment comes out of frustration, humor or complete humiliation.
(or a lovely hybrid of them all)
The list of frustrating things that completely overwhelm us is ever growing isn’t it?
I have found these to be the top causes of overwhelm and I’ve dubbed them the 4 Frustrating F’s:
- Finances – the currency that either prevents or propels us to freedom to choose where to spend our time and with whom.
- Family/Friends – the state of our relationships can really be a roller coaster of good, bad, fun and not so fun…
- Faith – the ever elusive quest to find what it is we truly believe in, keep it or even defend it by the way we live.
- Fuel – the “thing” that ignites our very soul and makes us feel/come alive!

At the end of the day, success can only be defined by YOU. And guess what? YOU are the only one who cares enough what it “looks like” anyway.
How much time, energy and even money is wasted in pursuing someone else’s version of your success?
When you think about it, it sounds pretty ridiculous, yet here most of us are…pursuing what we think will make us look successful to someone else!
As my mentor Carrie would say, ever so encouragingly, “STOP IT!” (I can literally hear her voice) and you know what? She’s right! We need to STOP IT!
This passage has helped me to turn my towel tossing “Whatever!” declarations into recognizing what kind of success really matters…
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8
Now, I don’t know about you, but those are a standard of success that I don’t think anyone would argue – whatever it is you are trying to achieve!
