Who walks with you?

He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.
Proverbs 13:20
It would seem pretty straightforward advice, right? Walk with (hang with) the wise and you to will become wiser for it. Walk with (hang with) fools and not so great things will come of it.
Yet, for those who are stuck in the hamster wheel to nowhere (and don’t even know why) or the those following the latest trends of who’s who – this may just be a “deep quote” that looks impressive to post on social media.
I’m sure you have heard that we are the sum of those with which we spend the most time with. This includes people, social media, television, books, music and even movies.
How you act is directly related to what you believe.
Which means where you will “end up” is heavily influenced by who/what it is that you believe.
If that’s the case you really need to stop and ask yourself:
- Who is influencing those beliefs?
- What beliefs are expanding your mindset or reach?
- Are those people/things influencing your beliefs strengthening, positioning and pointing you to your best self?
The actions behind your beliefs are a reflection of what you value and inevitably where you end up prioritizing your focus.
If you ever hope to be a person who keeps a high standard or that arrives where it is you want to go, you’ll want to be sure that your beliefs are coming from the right kind of people and places.
